Do I get a tax receipt for my $100.00 donation? Yes, as only registered not-for-profit and charitable organizations that can issue tax-deductible receipts can participate. Cheques are written directly to the charitable organization chosen and NOT to 100 Caring Women in North Stormont. A cash donation is also acceptable. Tax receipts will be issued directly by the charitable organization for your donation and will be mailed out within 30 days of the event.
How do I make my donation? Who do I make my cheque out to? Donation by cheque are preferred for tracking purposes. Cheques are not required upon sign up. You bring your cheque or cash the evening of the event and it will be collected at the sign-in table. The “payable to” section is left blank, and the names of the charities with the most number of votes will be filled in at the end of the evening by our committee members and provided directly to the organization. The organization will deposit the funds and issue your tax receipt. If you need to pay by cash, that is OK too. We will put it in an envelope and have you write your address on it so the organizations know who/where to write the tax receipt to.
What if the charity I voted for is not selected to be awarded funds from this event? Each of the charities at the event support wonderful causes. However, only the charities that receive a majority vote will be awarded the funds. You must be willing to support the charities voted on, even if it is not your first choice. You will still receive a tax receipt.
